Our own Sergio Bucci and Benedetto Grechi were interviewed by Adele Di Benedetto within the tourism television programme La Scia Bianca, which was broadcasted on Gold TV Italia. Here’s the video for those of you who understand Italian in which they tell us about Morellino di Scansano and about our co-op. Since there are no subtitles available, here’s a transcript of what they said.
«This area was initially the “poor” area in Tuscany, made of small farmers who produced wine to be drunk at home, with friends. It was unlikely that they had the resources to age the wine for a long time. Today Morellino is appreciated and acknowledged as a good wine, easy and ready to drink, for which one can spend the right amount of money, even at the restaurant, and drink well» said Sergio Bucci at the beginning of the interview.
They then moved to the ageing celler and it was now the turn of Benedetto Grechi who spoke about the winery: «We’re 132 producers for a total of 450 hectares destined to the cultivation of vines. These are mostly destined to Morellino di Scansano but we also produce and grow vineyards destined to Bianco di Pitigliano, Igt Toscana and now Maremma Toscana Doc, both white and red. […] Here we are in the so called barriccaia, the ageing cellar. Here wines are aged, especially Roggiano Riserva and Sicomoro». Benedetto then ended his interview saying something very important and very true: «you need to drink properly», drink with moderation, while eating a good meal.
