Ci prendiamo cura del territorio per prenderci cura dei nostri vini. E di voi.

Sustainability has always been essential to us. As a coop winery, looking after our territory, its people and our consumers is a priority. In this respect, we intend sustainability both in terms of social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

To us, social sustainability means safeguarding our territory, its traditions, including wine production. It means investing, innovating, creating value and high quality products, getting everyone involved and indeed we are very happy to have, among our members, many women-entrepreneurs and many young entrepreneurs who have decided to go back to farming, inspired by our work with Morellino di Scansano.

Of course, social sustainability goes hand in hand with environmental sustainability, because in order to preserve the traditions of a territory and create value, it is necessary to respect the environment. This is why we decided to participate in the National Programme for the Evaluation of the Environmental Footprint (Programma Nazionale per la Valutazione dell’Impronta Ambientale) promoted by the Ministry for the Environment and the Safeguard of Land and Sea. The programme is aimed at promoting business strategies for a sustainable development, giving priority to the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions for mass market products. The Carbon Footprint of a product measures the emissions of greenhouse gases in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent, from the extraction of the raw materials (cultivating the vineyard, in our case) to the product’s use and disposal (of the empty bottle, in the case of wine) thus offering an indication of the impact of that product on global climatic changes.

In particular, the Project with which Cantina dei Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano has participated in the National Programme (developed in collaboration with I.C.Studio Srl – Scuola Emas Ecolabel Toscana) refers to:

The goal is to measure the sustainability of wine production, based on four indicators: territory, air, vineyard and water. Here are the product sheets for Morellino di Scansano Docg and Morellino di Scansano Roggiano Docg with the results of their certification.
